The Motif Aura Glow: A Wearable Designed For Insurance Coverage
Hey everyone! Jessica here, and today we’re diving into an in-depth review of the Motif Aura Glow, a new entry into the wearable breast pump market. If you’ve been following my reviews, you know that I don’t hold back on my opinions—so let’s get into it!
A Step Up From Its Predecessor
Motif’s previous attempt at a wearable pump, the Motif Aura, was a total flop. It had serious design flaws, including inserts that were too short to be functional. However, with the Aura Glow, Motif has made some notable improvements.
That being said, while this pump has some great features, it also has significant drawbacks that moms need to be aware of before investing in it.
First Impressions: What’s New?
The Motif Aura Glow boasts some flashy upgrades—literally. The biggest marketing gimmick? The glow feature, a built-in light inside the pump. While this might seem useful at first glance, in reality, it’s not very practical. The only scenario where it might help is if you’re pumping in total darkness without your phone (which almost always has a flashlight feature).
Aside from the light-up feature, the most significant update is in the flange design. Unfortunately, this is also where the pump encounters some major issues.
The Flange: A Double-Edged Sword
Instead of the clear silicone flanges we love for their flexibility and performance, the Aura Glow’s flange is made of a smooth, velvety-textured silicone. While this may sound appealing, it’s actually too thin and flexible, leading to potential problems such as:
Difficult alignment – Because the flange isn’t clear, you can’t see if you’re positioned correctly.
Pinching issues – The softer texture tends to grab at the skin more aggressively than traditional flanges.
Limited compatibility – You can’t swap it out for a different flange, which could be a dealbreaker for those with elastic nipple tissue or sensory issues.
If you have sensitive skin, elastic breast tissue, or struggle with nipple pinching, I wouldn’t recommend this pump for you.
Performance and Suction Power
The Motif Aura Glow has four different pumping modes:
Mixed Mode – Alternates short and long pulls but feels weak above level 5.
Expression Mode – Offers suction up to 270 mmHg, which is impressive, but the heavy silicone absorbs some of the power.
Stimulation Mode – Ranges from 60 mmHg to 150 mmHg, with decent cycle speeds.
Cluster Mode – A unique feature that mimics a baby’s natural feeding pattern, alternating light and strong suction.
While Cluster Mode sounds great in theory, it’s not a true power pumping mode. If you were expecting it to mimic power pumping sessions automatically, it doesn’t do that.
Battery Life and Motor Durability
One of my biggest concerns is the longevity of the motor. Based on my testing, I expect it to last around 200-250 hours, which is less than ideal for a pump in this price range. It also struggles at higher suction levels, slowing down dramatically—a sign of an undersized motor.
Replacement Parts & Availability
One positive aspect is that Motif sells individual replacement parts at affordable prices. Unlike their previous pump, where parts were only available in bulk kits, the Aura Glow’s components can be purchased separately, making maintenance easier.
Final Verdict: Should You Buy the Motif Aura Glow?
✅ Pros:
Improved over the original Motif Aura
Decent suction power (up to 270 mmHg)
Affordable replacement parts
Cluster Mode may help encourage letdowns
Glowing light feature (if you find that useful)
❌ Cons:
Flange design is problematic (not clear, pinches, limited compatibility)
Motor durability is questionable
Suction strength is absorbed by the silicone flange
Cluster Mode is not true power pumping
Light-up feature is mostly a gimmick
Final Rating: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5)
While the Motif Aura Glow is a step up from the disastrous original Motif Aura, it’s not without flaws. If you’re getting it through insurance, it could be worth considering. However, if you’re paying cash, you might be better off looking at pumps like the Zomi Fit or Eufy e10, which provide better value at a similar price point.

Happy pumping! 💙
